Get married at Trevignano Romano on Lake Bracciano !

Trevignano Romano is a picturesque medieval hamlet stretching along the northern shore of Lake Bracciano. Built on a basalt cliff, the village lies at one end of a small bay, formed by the secondary crater of an extinct volcano. Evidence of Trevignano’s former importance as an Etruscan settlement are the many necropolises which stretch for some three kilometres along the hills behind the present-day village. Steeped in history, Trevignano today welcomes the visitor with its delightful mediaeval quarter and a tree-lined lakeside promenade well endowed with places to try the local specialities in a magical setting created by the fresh water of the lake and its limpid hues. Walking through the streets of the mediaeval town centre you come to the spectacular Parish Church where Catholic Weddings are celebrated all year round. Inside, a magnificent fresco of 1517 "Transit and crowning of Maria" attributed to the famous painter Pellegrino da Modena. If you are looking for a charming and romantic setting for your once-in-a-lifetime wedding,Trevignano Romano is a truly memorable place to celebrate your wedding in Italy!

From the square outside the church you can climb up the basalt cliff along a grassy path to the remains of the fortress erected in 1200 under Pope Innocent III. It had a double circle of walls defending the village which extended down to the lake. It was destroyed in 1496 by Cesare Borgia’s brother Giovanni, during the conflict with the Orsini family triggered by Pope Alexander VI Borgia. The fortress is easily reached from the churchyard of the Parish Church. Here you can find a breathtaking view looking over the roofs of Trevignano, the lake and the villages around it.…. what a wonderful backdrop to your Wedding pictures! Trevignano Romano in also called "Tuscia Romana" and is an n ideal centre for trips in a region of great tourist, artistic and natural interest. Apart from Rome (45 km), the following places of interest can be easily reached from Trevignano: Cerveteri (30 km), Bracciano (12 km), Sutri (12 km), Viterbo (45 km), Tarquinia (61 km), Tuscania (52 km), Caprarola (25 km), the hills of Tolfa and other attractive places.
