Your Wedding in Cortona

Cortona's medieval streets are pleasant to wander and you'll be rewarded with fabulous views of the countryside along the medieval town walls. Cortona has remnants of its pre-Roman Etruscan past, Renaissance artists Luca Signorelli and Fra Angelico, and Baroque artist Pietro di Cortona.

There are two stations, both below Cortona, at Terontola-Cortona or Camucia-Cortona. From either train station, a bus will take you to Cortona, arriving at Piazza Garibaldi, just outside the historic centre. Cortona can also be reached by bus from nearby towns and villages in Tuscany. If you're driving, from the A1 take the Valdichiana exit. Then take the Siena-Perugia motorway, exit at Cortona-San Lorenzo, and follow signs for Cortona.  

Cortona, atop its lofty perch at 650m (~2,100 ft.) where you're "closer to God",  has been blessed over many centuries with a wealth of famous citizens, structures, and artefacts.  

Cortona was made famous by Frances Mayes’ book Under the Tuscan Sun, but it was put on the map by the Etruscans.  

Many visitors also want to see Bramasole, the house in Under the Tuscan Sun.  To get to the house, walk all the way through the Giardino Pubblico, go past the Tennis Club, and continue on viale Passerini uphill for ~ 1km.  Bramasole is on your left (picture at left). You can also drive past Bramasole: take the road on the west side of Cortona to Torreone; turn right at Torreone towards the Church of S. Margherita and, where that road splits into three at a small Bar, take the road to the left downhill; Bramasole will be on your right in approximately 0.5km.
