There are no residency requirements to get married in Italy.
Usually 2-3 days are enough as many Wedding Halls in Italy request a “declaration” (also called “promise of marriage”). There are some wedding halls in Italy which will accept in advance a proxy for the “declaration” or have it signed five minutes before the civil wedding ceremony begins so you can also arrive the day before in Italy! A Nulla Osta is a declaration stating that there a no impediments to your marriage. It is issued by in Italian the your Consular Section of your Embassy in Italy and it has to get then legalized at a local Italian Prefecture Office. According to your nationalities, you can submit a “certificate of legal capacity to marry” issued by the relevant authorities in your own country which certifies that there are no impediments to your marriage.
